Here's a picture of Sean with Ellen Jaskol, the photographer who took the photos that appeared in the Westword article which came out today, Aug. 19, 2009. EllenJaskol.com Here's the link to the Westword article:

Westword Article
.

If that link doesn't work, just go to www.westword.com/news

The article, crafted by Melanie Asmar, examines the funding cuts to the Developmentally Disabled here in Colorado. The story follows Sean through a typical weekday with his lunch, swimming and walking with his care-giver, Doc Davis, and shows Sean at home. It also shows the bureaucrats' hollow answers that predictably pass the buck at every turn. Passing the buck is so much easier than coming up with any possible solution to the way Colorado is implementing draconian changes without adequate advance notice to families, care-givers and even the agencies involved with providing local services to the developmentally disabled.

Great job on this article, Melanie. And excellent photos, Ellen! Thank you for helping to get this terrible and scandalous situation OUT THERE so that people know what this corrupt government is doing. You have joined the ranks of those who speak for Sean because he cannot.

and you can check out a website dedicated to giving Sean a voice Seans Voice

That article is very touching. It is amazing how much the government can turn human lives into invisible elements in a program. Also scary how much money can just rule us blindly. May we survive that intact!

There is a reason we are all here. I hope you find the strength to continue, the angels out there who will help you as you need it, and the solutions to even the hardest of these problems.

Much love and strength to you, from Pittsburgh. Blessings,
Erika

i read your story in the westword today and was truly shocked what the grovernment was trying to do with some of the money. as reading more into the story some familes will be doing with out but not your son you people own a house in byers with land and also horses not one horse more than one your son gets subway everyday of the week which adds up to over 1200 dollars ayear he gets to go the gym or what ever else you feel he needs to do . while there are hundreds if not thousands of kids that will never get any of these things they will never see much less own a horse they dont get fast food ever they are way worst off money wise than yiour son will ever be you paople have good jobs and want the tax payers to provide for your son with no accounablity for the spending when the key thing to this whole problem should be dealt with by what the income of these familes are if your rich or well off why should i be paying for your medical bills or subway or horses doesnt add up to me maybe think about helping the people who REALLY NEED IT

Wow, a brave "anonymous" attacking the handicapped! This is new.

That you wish to take things away from Sean - who is an adult - and give them to someone else is unbelievable - and cowardly.

As for Sean's diet and Sean's life - I know you are probably a low IQ person and may have a problem understanding this - but WE pay for Sean's food, his clothing and most everything else. The money that is being cut is being taken away from his CARE GIVERS!!!

Guess you didn't grasp that part eh?

I would suggest that you re-read the article and actually grab yourself a dictionary so that you get a better understanding but it still won't have the pictures you would need to be able to grasp it.

So here is something you can take with with love from Sean's Dad - get lost, loser. Go find some other handicapped people you can abuse and sneer at.
